Advanced Manufacturing Council
Founded in 2014, the Advanced Manufacturing Council is on a mission to connect and grow the regional manufacturing sector through unified marketing, advocacy and economic development efforts. Organized and guided by a group of 15 industry leaders, this council has leveraged the momentum gained in its inaugural year as an impetus for high performance and visibility.
Since its inception, the Council has established collaborative relationships with education institutions in the region, hosted two successful Manufacturing Months to raise awareness of career options in manufacturing, and launched madeingnv.com as a community resource for information about the region’s manufacturing industry and the opportunities it presents.

Innovation Gainesville 2.0
Building on the legacy of the original Innovation Gainesville (iG) – a community-wide initiative launched in 2009 to connect people and regional assets around an innovation economy – the Gainesville Chamber reengaged the original iG advocates in 2016, and has positioned the group to play a key role in creating the next phase of the region’s innovation economy. Launched in February, 2016, as Innovation Gainesville 2.0, the initiative has been realigned under the Chamber’s Economic Development division to help drive the Transforming Greater Gainesville Strategy toward achieving its goal of creating 3,500 new jobs and $250 million in new capital investment to region. Innovation Gainesville 2.0’s inaugural year will be co-chaired by David Whitney, MBA, Assistant Director of the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Innovation Institute, and Patti Breedlove, M.S., former director of the UF Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator.
