CareerSource North Central Florida (NCFL) has partnered with the City of Gainesville to host a spring job fair on Tuesday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new CareerSource North Central Florida (NCFL) Gainesville career center at 10 NW Sixth Street. Approximately 50 area employers, primarily from City of Gainesville departments and agencies like Regional Transit Services (RTS) and Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU), are expected to participate with local area businesses. The event is open to the public and provided at no cost to employers or jobseekers.
The job fair is organized as a collaboration between the City of Gainesville, City of Gainesville Office of Equal Opportunity; City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs; RTS; GRU; the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce; and CareerSource NCFL to help the City and area businesses connect residents to open positions.
Last fall, the event attracted over 400 jobseekers for positions ranging from transit operators with RTS to account representatives at GRU and public service positions like police, firefighters and paramedics.
Jobseekers looking to participate should register in the Employ Florida Marketplace online (EmployFlorida.com) prior to attending and arrive with a resume and a valid state or federal photo ID to check-in. Dress for the event is business casual.
Jobseekers may also visit the CareerSource NCFL Gainesville Career Center prior to the event for resume preparation, job matching services, or soft skills training at no cost.

Employers are also encouraged to list positions on www.employflorida.com prior to the event so potential jobseekers can learn more.
The event is typically held during the fall at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Multipurpose Center at 1028 NE 14th Street. However, the relocation of CareerSource NCFL’s Gainesville career center to a new central downtown location created an opportunity to host a spring pilot version of the event right in the Gainesville area’s main jobs center. The City still plans to host its annual fall job fair later this year.
“Events like these are exactly the reason why we relocated our Gainesville career center to downtown,” said CareerSource NCFL board chair and President of Capital City Bank Don Davis. “By hosting the event at the Gainesville career center, job seekers will have easy access to the organization’s no-cost resources like job search and resume assistance, assessments, and technology resources like computers, printers, and copiers. All of this helps make sure area employers are interviewing candidates who are prepared to discuss the positions.”
The new Gainesville career center is centrally located near Gainesville and Alachua County government offices and is 45% larger than its previous location on 4800 SW 13th Street. It is roughly the same size as the MLK, Jr. Multipurpose Center. It features a spacious events section with modular furniture in the center designed to host large scale events like job fairs and business expos.

In addition to City of Gainesville departments, area businesses and organizations are planning to participate. Meridian Behavioral Healthcare is seeking to fill over 20 positions all currently listed on the Employ Florida Marketplace.
