Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A. is pleased to announce David S. Altman has joined the firm as an associate attorney. His practice focuses on the areas of probate, guardianship and litigation.
Altman, a St. Augustine native, graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 2009, studying history and political science. He then obtained his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2012. While in law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the UF Journal of Technology Law and Policy. He was awarded the University of Florida pro bono certificate for outstanding achievement for his volunteer work in the public sector and with non-profit organizations, including Three Rivers Legal Services.
Altman began his legal career as a Trial Court Staff Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, where he advised the court on legal issues related to guardianship, trust and probate litigation.
“David will add an additional layer of expertise to our probate and guardianship practice,” said Adam S. Towers, founding and managing partner of the Gainesville BMM office. “This is a rapidly growing area of need here in North Central Florida. As a bonus, his work experience provides unique insight into litigation.”
In his spare time, he loves to build computers and takes weekly Spanish classes to perfect his dialect. An avid outdoor sports enthusiast, Altman is a member of the Gainesville Regional Soccer League, loves to surf and has even hiked a large portion of the Appalachian Trail.
“I spent a month the summer after law school and covered 400 miles of the trail,” he said. “It was a way to unwind, refocus and prepare for my future employment.”
Altman came to Bogin, Munns & Munns for the opportunity to work in a large firm with greater resources and mentors to help him further develop his craft. “Their reputation as a firm that stresses family values and professionalism precedes them,” he said. “I’m looking forward to a long association.”
